Obese Children, HELP

Children eat what they are served or available to them.  The latest figures say that 1 in 3 children are obese.  This means millions of unhealthy teens and adults a decade or two from now.  Think what a drain on families and healthcare systems this will be.  Surely, we Americans can do better!  Start sharing your health successes with other people starting with family especially if there are obese members.  Prevention is always the best cure.
Start today choosing healthy food and exercise activities.  Choose fresh vegetables and fruits.  When choosing other items, READ THE LABEL!  Most prepared foods have too much salt, sugar and cholesterol in them.  Once you find the culprits, you can simplify your shopping for healthy foods.  Meals that are contained in one package are required to list ingredients and all seasonings under ingredients.  Fats, cholesterol, salt and sugar should be noted also.  Unless you prepare all fresh foods, you may get too much of any of the above unless you read the labels.
Take a vote with your family for a favorite exercise or activity.  Play any kind of ballgames, ride bikes, swim, walk, hike, run.  Just get going with what you prefer and will continue on a regular basis.  Remember, exercising your body improves your brain power.  A sedentary lifestyle tells your body to deteriate.  You do not want your children to grow up with only a relationship with Wii or gameboy; that does not give their bodies a workout.
